Moss, lichen, and algae growth on roof tiles is more than cosmetic. As moss spreads, it lifts tiles and ridge capping, allows water ingress, breaks down pointing, and blocks gutters. Left untreated, biological growth dramatically shortens roof lifespan and leads to expensive structural repairs.
CCS Services uses a soft-wash approach: low-pressure application of biocidal treatment that kills growth at the root, followed by a gentle rinse. High-pressure washing on roofs is not recommended — it displaces granules from felt and dislodges pointing, often causing more damage than the growth being removed.
For heavily mossy roofs, a mechanical scrape followed by soft-wash treatment produces the most thorough and lasting result. Post-treatment biocidal residues prevent regrowth for 2–5 years depending on conditions.
